Department of Transportation- Fresno Area Express (FAX)

The City of Fresno’s Department of Transportation-Fresno Area Express (FAX) anticipates releasing the following transit-related maintenance, technology, construction, and planning procurements over the next six months:

  • FAX Schedule Guide Printing Services Requirements Contract IFB (Release in February 2025; Award in March 2025)  

    New five-year contract for printing FAX’s Schedule Guide. Approximate yearly contract cost is $50,000, with a five-year total of $250,000.
  • Bus Air Purification Systems and Installation IFB (Release in February 2025; Award Spring 2025 for RFP) 

    Purchase of new bus air purification systems with installation. The approximate total cost is $420,000 to $460,000
  • Public CNG Fueling Concrete Landing Pad Replacement (DUE March 11,2025; Award Summer 2025)

    Construction activities related to the demolition and replacement of the concrete landing pad and associated curbs located at the FAX public CNG fueling pumps. The existing pad is being expanded to a broader footprint and the project does involve replacement of a pair of large electrical and communications in-ground vaults with traffic-rated devices. Approximate dollar range: $300,000 – $500,000.
  • ADA Bus Stop Upgrades – Phase C (Release Spring 2025; Award Spring 2025)

    Construction activities related to bus stop rehabilitation, including demolition, concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter replacement, and asphalt replacement. There are a total of 75 bus stops expected to be renovated over the course of multiple projects. Approximate dollar range: $600,000 – $700,000.
  • ADA Bus Stop Upgrades – Phase B (Release Summer 2025; Award Fall 2025)

    Construction activities related to bus stop rehabilitation, including demolition, concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter replacement, and asphalt replacement. There are a total of 75 bus stops expected to be renovated over the course of multiple projects. Approximate dollar range: $600,000 – $700,000.
  • Bus Stop Design for New Bus Routes and Service Extensions (Release Summer 2025; Award Fall 2025)

    30%, 60%, 90% and 100% design for approximately 75 new bus stops along new bus routes or existing bus route extensions as well as design for the rehabilitation of approximately 22 bus stops along existing routes that will be extended. Award is expected to take place in Fall 2024. Approximate dollar range: $250,000 – $400,000.
  • Bus Stop Design for Stop Improvements Supporting “The Dakota” Affordable Housing Project (Release Fall 2025; Award Winter 2025)

    30%, 60%, 90% and 100% design for improvements to approximately 16 existing bus stops along Routes 28 and 39 to support The Dakota affordable housing project. Award is expected to take place in Fall 2024. Approximate dollar range: $120,000 – $200,000.
  • HVAC and Roof Replacement Project for FAX Bus Maintenance Building (Release Spring 2025; Award Fall 2025)

    Construction activities related to the replacement and upgrades of the HVAC system, new digital direct control system, and full roof replacement. This project will require adherence to the City’s Project Labor Agreement policies. Award is expected to take place in Fall 2024. Approximate dollar range: $8,500,000 – $10,000,000.
  • Bus Wash Maintenance and Repairs Requirements Contract RFP (Release in Summer 2025; Award Fall 2025)

    Monthly maintenance services and repairs for the bus wash. Approximate yearly cost is $50,000 to $75,000.
  • Towing Services Requirements Contract RFP (Release in Spring 2025; Award Summer 2025)

    Contract for towing of FAX’s fixed-route fleet. Approximate yearly cost is $100,000 to $150,000.
  • Alternative Fuel Relief Vehicles IFB (Release in Spring 2025; Award in Summer 2025)

    For the purchase of five electric/clean air vehicles. Approximate total cost of $200,000 to $230,000.
  • Radial Tire Leasing Services (Release in Spring 2025; Award in Summer 2025)

    New five-year contract for tire leasing services. Approximate total (five-year) cost between $1.5 million to $2 million.
  • Genfare Parts Requirements Contract IFB (Release in Spring 2025; Award Summer 2025)

    One year with an optional year add-on for Genfare farebox and TVM parts. Approximate cost TBD.
  • FAX Facilities Custodial Services RFP (Release in Summer 2025; Award in Fall 2025) New five-year contract for custodial services at all of FAX’s offices/facilities. Approximate yearly contract cost TBD.
  • FAX Job Order Contract for Bus Stop Repairs (JOC) (Release in Spring 2025; Award in Summer 2025)

    FAX has over 1,500 Bus Stops and the Job Order Contract will be for ongoing Concrete and Asphalt repairs at designated FAX Bus Stops.

    Initial two-year contract with three one-year extensions.   Approximate cost TBD.
