Motor oil (new and used) is toxic. You can help keep our city clean and reduce waste by recycling. Remember that one gallon of motor oil can contaminate one million gallons of drinking water, a one-year supply for 50 people. In fact, used motor oil accounts for 40% of oil pollution in America’s waterways. Please recycle used motor oil. DO NOT pour it on the ground or into the storm drain.
Currently 90% of used oil filters are not recycled. However, recycling one ton of used oil filters recovers 1,700 pounds of steel and up to 60 gallons of used motor oil.
