MEMORANDUM
To: All Persons Interested In Reserving Tower Theatre
From: Ruth F. Quinto, CPA, Assistant City Manager
Date: July 20, 2022
Re: Tower Theatre located at 809 East Olive Avenue, Fresno, CA 93728
To Whom It May Concern:
The City of Fresno (the “City”) is in the final stages of purchasing the historic Tower Theatre (“Theatre”) and anticipates escrow will close by no later than July 22, 2022. As a new owner of an older historic property, the City plans to conduct a thorough safety inspection of the Theatre promptly after close of escrow. The City anticipates the initial safety inspection will be completed by August 21, 2022, but this deadline could be extended depending on the availability of necessary personnel to complete the initial safety inspection and the findings of the initial safety inspection. During this initial safety inspection period, no performances will be scheduled to occur at the Theatre.
Following the completion of the safety inspection, the City anticipates it may have to perform repairs to the Theatre. During this time, the City could need to limit use of the Theatre to performances and shows that have already been booked under a binding contract and that can use the Theatre safely during the course of repairs. The City reserves the right to change bookings in the event of any required repairs.
Once we have more information about the anticipated timing for any needed repair work, the City intends to release information on how to reserve the Tower Theatre in the future under a City reservation policy and through the City’s operator.
Should you have any questions, please contact Assistant City Manager Ruthie Quinto at the City of Fresno.
