On March 9, 2023, the Fresno City Council approved the renaming of portions of California Avenue, Ventura Street and Kings Canyon Road to Cesar Chavez Boulevard. Below are the areas approved for renaming:

  • California Avenue – Marks Avenue to Hughes Avenue and West Avenue to Mayor Avenue
  • Ventura Street – Mayor Avenue to Cedar Avenue
  • Kings Canyon Road – Cedar Avenue to Peach Avenue

In addition to your address street name change, street signage, Apple and Google Map apps will also change.

When

In the next few weeks, the contractor hired by the City of Fresno will begin to install the Cesar Chavez Boulevard street signs with a completion by Fall 2024.

Reimbursement

Businesses whose addresses are affected by the Cesar Chavez Boulevard street name change can file for reimbursement of actual and reasonable costs associated with the renaming project. Businesses will need to complete the reimbursement forms online by December 31, 2024, to be considered for reimbursement.
