The One Fresno Youth Jobs Corps Program is excited to offer youth the opportunity to gain work experience within the City of Fresno.
Assignments can range from working in an office setting to outdoors in the field, all while working alongside professional staff to best serve Fresno.
One Fresno Youth Jobs Corps Objectives:
Entry-level employment in City government and career paths for upward mobility.
- Remove barriers of vulnerable residents for training and employment within the City of Fresno
- Provide job training, case management, and mentorship through existing partnerships
- Provide tools for success in future employment at the City of Fresno or other organizations
- Provide a living wage for employees throughout the duration of the program
One Fresno Youth Jobs Corps is focused on hiring youth that face barriers such as:
- Difficulty finding employment
- Are low-income
- Are unemployed and/or out of school
- Are or were justice-involved
- Are in or transitioning from foster care
- Are engaged with the mental health or substance abuse system
- Are unhoused/housing insecure/at risk of becoming unhoused

Intern – Paid

Camp Fresno

Join the PARCS Team at Camp Fresno in Dinkey Creek. Enjoy the outdoors of the Sierra Nevada Mountains while providing a safe, fun, and friendly environment for youth ages 7-24.
The City of Fresno operates a family and group camp (Camp Fresno/Camp Fresno Jr.) located on Dinkey Creek, 15 miles east of Shaver Lake and 65 miles from Fresno in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains. Weather is typical for the Sierra Nevada Mountains; summers are normally dry with occasional thundershowers and temperatures in the 80’s F. The City of Fresno is seeking dedicated, self-motivated, and passionate people. Positions filled from this recruitment will provide youth programming for Camp Fresno attendees.
Positions include camp counselors and cooks. Qualified candidates for youth programming will have experience supporting recreation activities such as arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, fishing, sports, games, and more. Applicants should be comfortable with the outdoors.
The seasonal employment is between May and September 2023, depending on Camp needs. This temporary assignment in no way guarantees full-time employment. This seasonal position can become year-round. Specific shift times and schedules will be dependent on Camp needs. On-site camp cabin housing (dormitory) is provided for overnight shifts. Experience in recreational services and customer service is preferred.
Experience working with youth and young adults is preferred but not required. Knowledge of recreational and outdoor activities such as crafts, games, and sports is preferred.

Services Aide – PARCS Youth Employment Program (YEP)

- Participants are required to attend a series of paid workshops designed to develop soft-skill employment training that complements on-the-job training.

The City of Fresno PARCS Department has a variety of temporary part-time and seasonal opportunities in our Maintenance Division. Individuals receive first-hand experience in strengthening the future of our community by keeping our parks clean, safe, and well-maintained. Keeping our facilities in top notch shape helps to empower residents to acquire skills, live healthy lives, appreciate the beauty of the central valley, and strengthen community connection!
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and other park amenities and remove debris and litter from PARCS facilities.
- Assist maintenance staff in maintaining PARCS facilities by submitting work orders for repair or assisting in light maintenance activities under supervision.
- Provide opening and closing support including checking park for readiness to open or close and performing custodial duties as needed before unlocking restrooms and/or gates.
Services Aide – PARCS Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids (SPARK) Program

The City of Fresno PARCS Department is looking for temporary part-time employees to support the Sports, Play, Active Recreation for Kids (SPARK) after school program at various Fresno Unified School District After School Education and Safety (ASES) sites by instructing up to 25 K-8 students in physical activities and nutrition education. The ideal candidate should be dynamic, energetic, passionate, and committed to serving the youth in our community.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Set up and facilitation of physical education rotation in ASES.
- Assist with daily tasks required at an After School ASES site i.e. check in students, supervise snack time, provide homework support, engage students, behavioral management etc.
- Learn to instruct others in various arts, crafts, games, and sports.
- Assist in the enforcement of rules, regulations, and safety protocol at a FUSD school site.
Temporary Community Recreation Assistant & Temporary Recreation Specialist

We are currently recruiting for Temporary Community Recreation Assistants and Temporary Recreation Specialists. Under supervision, incumbents plan, organize, and conduct specialized recreation and/or community service activities. Incumbents also provide specialized workshops, classes and activities in areas including but not limited to sports, music, science, fitness/nutrition, technology, special events, and senior programs. Additionally, incumbents serve as park attendants; verify park reservations; ensure facilities/picnic areas are clean and ready for use; and report maintenance issues.
Temporary Community Recreation Assistant duties include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the customer experience at a park, park facility, or program including customer service
- Monitoring and reporting the physical state of facilities and equipment; cleaning of park amenities.
- Provide lead direction over temporary staff; planning, organizing, and conducting a wide variety of recreation and/or support services to special events, and/or community service activities
Temporary Recreation Specialist duties include, but are not limited to:
- Plans, organizes and conducts specialized workshops, classes and activities in areas including, but not limited to, sports, music, science, fitness/nutrition, technology, special events, and senior programs.
- Arranges, engages and leads field trips, camps and hands-on activities
- Assists in the development of a wide variety of recreation and community services programs suited to the needs of the targeted participants.
- Interprets and explains policies, procedures and programs. May assist with coordinating, recruiting, training, and monitoring temporary program staff and volunteers.
