Swim Lesson Levels
Starfish:
- Parent/guardian enters water with child.
- Swim instructor guides both guardian and child through lesson.
- No swim experience.
- Builds water comfortability.
- Designed for people who are afraid of getting in the water.
Tadpole:
- Exposed to basic swimming skills.
- Breath control, paddling, kicking, and floating.
- Little to no experience in water.
- Builds water confidence and comfortability.
- Learn to open eyes underwater and swim to surface.
Goldfish:
- Improves on tadpole skills.
- Introduces buoyancy, body position, propulsion, and coordinated strokes.
- Teaches beginning foundations of swimming.
- How to approach turns and beginner strokes.
- Participants must be comfortable in water.
- Must be able to open eyes underwater with face fully submerged underwater.
Shark:
- Increases swimmers endurance and water safety skills.
- Introduces swimmer to additional coordinated strokes and breathing techniques.
- Participant must have a foundation in swimming.
- Student should be able to front crawl/ freestyle for one lap (25 yds) to begin Shark level.
Dolphin:
- Coordination of movements in order to swim more smoothly and efficiently.
- Endurance building.
- Must be proficient in swimming front stroke/ back stroke, floating, breathing, streamline, flipturns, and able to tread water.
- Must be able to swim 25 yds, (one lap).
- Will learn breaststroke and butterfly.
- Goggles are strongly recommended.
Orca:
- Refine and advance stroke technique for all competitive strokes
- Build greater speed, stamina, and overall endurance in the water
- Learn and practice race-specific skills, including starts, turns, and finishes
- Develop consistent, efficient swimming habits that support competitive success
- Gain confidence and readiness for the structure and expectations of swim team training
Stingray:
- Emphasizes personalized instruction.
- Builds foundational skills enhancing water confidence.
- Supports development or refinement of existing techniques.
- Suited for adults at any level.

Swim Lessons are available to:
- Ages 3+
- All swimming levels
- Free to City of Fresno residents under 18 and Fresno Unified School District students
- City of Fresno Residents 18+ $100
- Non- City of Fresno Residents $133
