Our Mission - The mission of the Mayor’s Jobs Initiative Program (MJI) is to work collaboratively with local businesses, educational institutions and government agencies to increase capacity for residents to achieve academic and employment success. The MJI program, under the direction of the City of Fresno Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department (PRCS), has joined the effort in helping to reduce the high unemployment rate in Fresno by creating employment and training opportunities for job-seekers.
Connecting people to jobs goes a long way toward making a community more livable, as the negative impact of unemployment are far-reaching. In addition to decreasing the unemployment rate, the City of Fresno's MJI project intends to impact a decrease in drug abuse, crime, and mental health issues.
The MJI helps employers recruite qualified new employees, reduce turnover, and develop a more skilled workforce.
