What do I do with Household Hazardous Wastes?
Please visit our Household Hazardous Waste page for information.  The City of Fresno and Fresno County sponsor two free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events, one in the spring and one in the fall, call 262-4259 for dates and locations.

Where do I take paint?
"If usable, donate the paint to a non-profit organization.  Empty, dry paint containers can be placed in the blue recycling cart.

Latex Paint:
If needing disposal, dry it with kitty litter, and place dried paint in gray trash container.

Oil Based Paint:
If needing disposal, save it for the next Household Hazardous Waste collection event,  held by the County  twice per year.

What do I do to report a skipped container or bin?
Please call 621-1452 to speak to a customer service clerk about skipped containers or bins. Our customer service line is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM through 4:30 PM .If you are a residential customer and are calling on your service day, please wait until at least 12:00 PM to allow the routes the minimum amount of time it would take to service your area.

Recycling Questions

What types of items are recyclable?

What plastics are recyclable?
All plastics can be recycled in City of Fresno blue carts and bins.  This includes unnumbered plastics but not Styrofoam.

Why can't Styrofoam go into the recycling bin if it has triangles on the bottom?
There is currently no market for Styrofoam, therefore it needs to be placed in the gray cart.  Styrofoam "peanuts" can be taken to packaging stores such as Mailboxes Etc, The UPS Store, Pack & Ship Pros, etc…
