Welcoming Reception for Korean Disability Partners At Fresno City Hall

FRESNO, CA -- The City of Fresno joins with Resources for Independence, Central Valley (RICV) in welcoming international partners from Korea to a reception on Oct. 23 at City Hall at 5 p.m.

Under the Empower Partnerships for Inclusive Communities Program of Mobility International USA, RICV has partnered with Korea Differently Abled Federation (KODAF) and Human Rights Law Foundation (HRLF) of Gonggam of South Korea to promote leadership among people with disabilities in the Asia-Pacific Region. RICV is one of only 20 organizations in the United States selected by MIUSA and the Department of State under the Empower Partnership for participation.

As part of the Inclusive Communities Program, Executive Director Robert J. Hand visited South Korea in August to plan for international expansion of the RICV Community Leadership Academy. The Community Leadership Academy, which trains persons with disabilities to be members of government and non-profit councils, commissions and boards, was developed out of the desire to increase leadership and civic engagement among people with disabilities. These exchange visits open the horizons for all three organizations to further develop civic engagement opportunities for individuals with disabilities worldwide.

It is with great pleasure that the City of Fresno supports the Inclusive Communities Program and joins with RICV in welcoming to Fresno Dr. Eungho Ahn, Chair, Policy Research Division, KODAF and Mr. Hyungkuk Youm, Executive Director, HRLF Gonggam.
