03/22/2010

Mayor Ashley Swearengin and local technology companies will join forces on Monday, March 29 to host an event dubbed, “The Most Multi-Media Meeting Ever.” The meeting is designed to showcase the city’s vibrant technology business sector through the use of a wide variety of web-based multimedia resources. The meeting will be held from 4:30 – 6 p.m.at the offices of VisionOne, located at 6781 N. Palm Avenue.

The event is sponsored by the Fresno Technology Affinity Group (FTAG), which has been created through the City of Fresno Downtown and Community Revitalization department. The affinity group is a component of the department’s ongoing efforts to promote and support Fresno-based businesses.

“I’m excited to be a part of this unique project,” Mayor Swearengin said. “The continued growth of our technology sector in Fresno is essential to our city’s future economic success. We need to keep spreading the word about local companies that are on the forefront of this wave of opportunity within our community.”

“Residents and businesses that look outside of Fresno for their technology service needs often overlook the incredible local talent available to them right here at home,” said Craig Scharton, Director of Downtown and Community Revitalization. “The City is excited to be working with local companies to change the misperception that top quality technology services can only be found in the Bay Area.”

The “Most Multi-Media Meeting Ever” will be streamed live worldwide over the internet and will offer participants the ability to take part in a simultaneous web chat. Business Street Online, a web-based local media company will host the streaming content at www.businessstreetonline.com.

In addition to the live event, the local technology sector will be featured during the next “PrimeTime for Business” presentation to the Fresno City Council on Thursday, March 25 at 8:30 a.m. The presentation by the Fresno Technology Affinity Group will give over twenty locally owned tech companies the opportunity to share their stories and to further promote the upcoming “Most Multi-Media Meeting Ever” event.
