Mayor Swearengin, Council Proclaim ‘Victor Perez Day’ to Honor Hero Who Rescued Abducted Girl

Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Fresno City Council proclaimed today as “Victor Perez Day” in the City of Fresno to honor the local hero who rescued an 8-year-old girl who had been abducted from in front of her Fresno home Monday night.

Mayor Swearengin issued the proclamation during a City Hall ceremony. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger also presented Perez with a certificate of recognition for his heroism during the event.

“Victor Perez showed extraordinary courage and bravery in helping to reunite an abducted 8-year-old girl with her family,” the proclamation says. “…Mr. Perez’s selfless actions have captured the hearts of people across the country and brought national attention to the spirit and determination of Fresno residents and their willingness to help their fellow residents, even under the most difficult circumstances.”
