Two Shaded Play Areas Now Open for Fresno Kids

Just in time for the summer heat wave, Fresno PARCS cut ribbons on two brand new shaded tot lots in the downtown area. The first is naturally shaded by its location under Highway 180 and the second is situated at the Kearney Triangle in West Fresno and features shade canopies and beautiful shade trees.

The much needed facilities will serve the Lowell-Jefferson area of downtown and the West Fresno community. Both projects were completely funded by a $500,000 grant from First Five Fresno County which also includes funding for a splash park that will open at the historic Dickey playground in August.

Whether it is natural shade trees, a section of freeway or carefully designed shade structures, the City of Fresno has established shade as a standard feature for all new tot lots.
