City of Fresno Cooling Centers Activated Today
06/28/2010

An expected high temperature above 105 degrees has triggered the activation of City of Fresno cooling centers today. The City will offer relief at 4 facilities located throughout the City from noon to 8 p.m. In addition, the City’s FAX Bus system will provide free transportation along normal routes to and from the Cooling Center sites. To ride free, residents must indicate they are traveling to a cooling center. Individuals should refer to the FAX schedule to determine the final evening departure for buses.

Cooling centers will be operated at the following locations:

- Frank H. Ball, 760 Mayor
- Ted C. Wills Community Center, 770 N. San Pablo
- Mosqueda Community Center, 4670 E. Butler
- Pinedale Community Center, 7170 N. San Pablo

The City of Fresno PARCS department provides free swimming from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at City operated pool locations when cooling centers are activated.

Additional information is available by calling 621-CITY(2489) or by visiting the City of Fresno website at www.fresno.gov/cool . The operation of City cooling centers is made possible through a $21,000 donation from PG&E.
