Cooling Centers Open Tuesday & Wednesday

The forecast of high heat over the next few days has triggered activation of City of Fresno Cooling Centers today and tomorrow. Residents may visit Mosqueda Community Center, Pinedale Community Center, Ted C. Wills Community Center and the Frank H. Ball Neighborhood Center for heat relief from noon until 8pm. The City will provide free bus transportation along normal routes to and from the cooling centers for residents requesting a ride. While activation does call for free swimming while pools are operational, the City of Fresno pools closed for the season when FUSD began its 2010-2011 school year.

When the forecast is below 105 degrees, City officials will monitor forecast and weather conditions and may call for activation at any time if urgent public health and safety issues arise. The public can refer to the City’s website, or call 621-CITY to confirm Cooling Center activations.

The City’s Cooling Centers are made possible through grant funds from Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
