Fresno – Yosemite Airport Ranks in Top Ten for On-Time Performance

Fresno Yosemite International Airport ranks in the top ten out of 100 continental U.S. airports for on-time flight performance. According to information released by the U.S. Department of Transportation Air Travel Consumer Report for the month of December, Fresno Yosemite ranks Third in on-time arrival performance and Sixth for on-time departures.

While weather is a driving factor for flight delays, December’s weather conditions had minimal impact on flight operations at Fresno Yosemite International Airport compared to other airports listed in the report. Fresno Yosemite is one of the few California airports equipped with a Category III(b) Instrument Landing System, which is activated during extreme weather conditions. This sophisticated landing system provides aircraft with the ability to land in conditions of reduced visibility; thereby minimizing weather related delays.

Aviation Director, Russ Widmar stated, “We are pleased that Fresno Yosemite is equipped with the necessary technology, along with exceptional airport operations support and service, to achieve such high rankings for both arrivals and departures.”

Eight carriers currently offer Valley passengers approximately 42 daily departures from Fresno. Fresno Yosemite International Airport is an industry leader in terms of cost containment to its partner airlines. The Airport is a municipally owned entity operating as a self-supporting enterprise. No City of Fresno general funds are used to operate Fresno Yosemite International Airport or Fresno Chandler Executive Airport.
