Winter Watering Schedule Begins December 1

The City of Fresno’s winter watering schedule will go into effect for all city water customers beginning December 1. The schedule permits outside watering on the following days and times:

ODD Numbered Addresses:
(Addresses ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9)

EVEN Numbered Addresses:
(Addresses ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8)

No watering is permitted between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The winter watering schedule begins on December 1 of each year and runs through March 1 to avoid unnecessary over watering. As the weather cools and fog comes, there is little or no need for watering. If watering does become necessary, the City recommends irrigating approximately five minutes per station on the assigned watering day.

In addition to following the required watering schedule, customers should also set automatic sprinkler times off the hour, such as 10:43 p.m., 2:57 a.m. or 4:26 a.m. The benefits of resetting sprinkler times are two-fold. First, it prevents sprinklers throughout the City from going on at the same time, which can decrease water pressure to individual customers. And second, it helps conserve energy by preventing the City’s pumps from continuously switching on and off instead of steady pumping. During rain events, remember to turn automatic sprinkler timers off or place them on pause mode.

Water conservation experts from the City of Fresno Water Division are available to visit customers and assist with sprinkler timer settings and offer water efficient irrigation tips. Customers can call (559) 621-5480 to schedule an appointment.
