Mayor Swearengin Hosts Community Town Hall Meeting

The Mayor’s Community Advisory Panel (CAP) is pleased to announce the second in a series of town hall meetings with Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Fresno residents on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Retired Teachers’ Educational Center in Central Fresno.

Mayor Swearengin will make brief introductory remarks and then open the floor for questions and comments from the public. Staff from City departments will be on hand as well to address issues relating to code enforcement, police and fire services, public utilities, and other topics.
Spanish language interpretation services will be available.

Councilmember Larry Westerlund, who represents the council district where the town hall meeting will be held, also will participate in the event.

Mayor Swearengin kicked off a series of outreach events last month with a telephone-based town hall meeting - the first time a tele-town hall style has been used to give Fresno-area residents a chance to communicate directly with the Mayor on issues facing the City.

The Mayor’s Community Advisory Panel was created to enhance citizen participation in civic affairs through the development of programs such as the Fresno Citizens Academy, town hall meetings, and other outreach efforts.
