Mayor Swearengin Praises Gov. Schwarzenegger On Executive Order to Deal with Impacts of Drought
Mayor Ashley Swearengin today issued the following statement after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger issued an executive order that will provide temporary assistance for Fresno County residents who are impacted by the drought. The Governor also requested a federal disaster declaration from President Obama for Fresno County.
“Gov. Schwarzenegger today demonstrated continued leadership to help the Valley deal with the devastating effects of the drought. In particular, I commend the governor for his Executive Order that will immediately help local governments and non-profit organizations supply food and other assistance to those who have suffered so much from the effects of the drought. This action will make a real difference in the lives of families who have been having trouble putting food on the table.
“I also applaud the Governor for requesting a federal disaster declaration for Fresno County and am committed to working as hard as I can with state and federal officials to support the Governor’s request.”
