Most City Offices to Close from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Weekend

City of Fresno offices, other than those providing essential services to the public, will be closed from December 24 through January 3 to accommodate employee furloughs enacted last month as part of the City’s budget reduction plan. The City will continue to provide police, fire, utilities and sanitation services during the office closure period. The City’s airports and transit system will continue to operate and City parks will remain open as well. Holiday schedules may apply to certain services on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day according to the schedule provided below. Office Closure Schedule:
Airports: Administrative offices closed 12/25 and 1/1. Normal airport operations at FYI and Chandler;
City Clerk’s Office: Offices closed;
City Hall Offices closed;
Code Enforcement: Offices closed;
Fire Department Administrative offices closed; Normal operations otherwise;
Fresno Area Express: Offices closed; Normal transit operations except as follows:
Christmas Eve – weekend schedule
Christmas Day – modified holiday schedule
New Year’s Day – weekend schedule
General Services Offices closed;
Parking Division Normal operations for parking lots and meters. Office closed for citation payments;
Parks and Recreation (PARCS): Offices closed. Park sites open as normal. See attached Senior Hot Meals and Youth Recreation program schedules;
Personnel Department: Offices closed. Online applications accepted at www.fresno.gov/personnel;
Planning and Development: Offices closed;
Police Department: Downtown HQ open 10am – 2pm except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Normal operations otherwise;
Public Utilities Department: Offices closed;
Public Works Department: Offices closed;
Purchasing Department: Offices closed;
Solid Waste Offices closed. Normal collection schedule except:
(Residential and Commercial): Friday, December 25 - No collection
Saturday, December 26: Collection on Friday routes
Friday, January 1: No collection
Saturday, January 2: Collection on Friday routes;
Utility Payments Offices and payment counters closed (Fresno City Hall and Manchester Center). Online transactions available at www.fresno.gov/ubc. Note: Payment date extended to January 4, 2010 for bills due December 24 – January 3;
Water Division Offices open except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
