The VIBE at Sports Town on Kern Street Goes “Green”

The VIBE goes “Green” tonight!  Sponsored by the Department of Public Utilities, City of Fresno staff will provide a variety of information on how the community can help save our natural resources, clean our environment and enjoy the rewards for success in the effort. The VIBE patrons will enjoy longer hours, from 5-10 pm, beginning tonight, June 27th.

Activities at The VIBE will include the opportunity to name the new, one of a kind, hybrid refuse truck operated by the Department of Public Utilities. Rock out to the Xbox Rock Band competition with City of Fresno officials, FLYP (Fresno Leading Young Professionals), Creative Fresno and other groups as they showcase their talents. There will be fun for fans of all ages with basketball game contests, video games, beer, margaritas, food, prizes, children’s area, salsa dancing and live music.

In addition to the VIBE, downtown entertainment on Friday continues with Movies in the Park at Eaton Plaza beginning at 6 pm. At dusk, PARCS will host the showing of Evan Almighty. And of course, the Fresno Grizzlies baseball team will play the Las Vegas 51s at Chukchansi Park beginning at 7:05 pm.

A free trolley service operated by Fresno FAX will provide transportation between The Vibe on Kern Street, Eaton Plaza near the water tower, and Chukchansi Park - making transportation between entertainment sites easy for everyone!

Nearly 50 organizations will be participating in this Friday’s VIBE “green” event, including: City of Fresno Department of Public Utilities, PARCS Department, San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District, and Fresno Area Express.

All activities (excluding the Fresno Grizzlies game, food and beverages) are free to the community.
