Downtown Business Appreciation
The City of Fresno and its Economic Development Department, along with the Economic Development Corporation serving Fresno County, The Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Association, and the Fresno Redevelopment Agency have proclaimed April 30, 2008 as “Downtown Business Appreciation Day.”
On Wednesday, April 30, 2008, Mayor Alan Autry, Council President Blong Xiong, and District 3 Councilwoman Cynthia Sterling will celebrate with the dedicated business owners who never lost focus of how important a vibrant Downtown Fresno is to the vitality of this community. Over the past decade, more than $1 billion of new and redeveloped projects have taken place because downtown businesses provided the rock upon which the City could build.
The celebration will take place at the Fresno Convention Center Exhibit Hall. Chamber President and CEO Al Smith will welcome and provide the introductions at the invitation-only reception honoring companies of all sizes that kept their respective businesses downtown for more than 20 years.
A keepsake program with short histories and photos of the honored business will be available following the brief program. Media are cordially invited to interview the featured business speakers.
