Mayor Autry together with Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director, Randy Cooper, will announce the City’s plan to provide relief to the community during the extremely hot days of summer. 06/01/07  Opticom Preemption Signals Being Installed at Major Fresno Intersections
Signal preemption at major intersections around Fresno is the next step that the City of Fresno Public Works Department is taking to make it easier for the City of Fresno Fire Department to reach their goal of a “four minute response time.” The Opticom preemption signals not only help with the response time of the Fire Department but all emergency personnel. When a vehicle equipped with an emitter approaches a traffic signal it sends out an infrared light to the receiver next to the lightbox, giving that vehicle the right-of-way in traffic. >more

05/30/07  City's Downtown Movie Night A Huge Success
The City of Fresno Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) is excited to share it’s opening night success of Comcast Movies in the Park that took place downtown, Friday night May 25th at Eaton Plaza adjacent the historic water tower. More than 500 Fresno residents of all ages turned out to enjoy music, a rock wall, two bounce houses, face painting, a balloon artists, plenty of great food and a screening of Happy Feet! Participants were pleased to have the opportunity to enjoy a great family activity at no cost and were encouraged by the ease of free parking, the convenience of on-site food vendors and the access to fun, family entertainment in downtown Fresno. Many were surprised to learn that Friday night was just the beginning and the free movies would last all summer long. >more
