City Housing and Community Development Manager, Michael Sigala, together with representatives from Roem Development Corporation will seek exclusive negotiation agreement for the Fresno Transit Village Project from City Council during tomorrow’s council meeting. The presentation is scheduled for 9:30am under General Administration inside Fresno City Council Chambers. 10/13/07  Indiana Jones And The Quest For The Perfect Location
When Steven Spielberg remarked to Fresno Film & Entertainment Commissioner Ray Arthur that this was the first time he had ever filmed in Fresno, they were standing in front of the old control tower at Chandler Executive Airport. The long, statewide search for a small but pivotal key location had ended in Fresno with the vintage airport being chosen for inclusion in the fourth installment of the “Indy” franchise titled Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Director Spielberg was joined by writer/producer George Lucas to personally oversee the filming of the sequences last Thursday. >more

10/05/07  Mayor Invites Interested Citizens To Fill Vacancies On Historical Preservation Committee
Mayor Autry would like to extend the opportunity for citizens interested in preserving our City’s history by participating on the City’s Historical Preservation Committee. The City’s Historic Preservation Commission is comprised of seven individuals appointed by the Mayor, who have training and expertise in preservation, architecture, architectural history, engineering and related fields. The Commission normally meets the 4th Monday of the month at City Hall at 5:30pm. >more

The City of Fresno invites the public to attend an Open House meeting regarding the future development of the Veterans Boulevard/State Route 99 Interchange project. Since 1984, the City of Fresno has been planning for a new six-lane super arterial roadway in northwest Fresno. Previously known as the Herndon-Grantland Diagonal, Veterans Boulevard will provide a vital link to the 99 Freeway for Northwest Fresno. >more

09/18/07  Settlement Reached for Campus Pointe Project at Fresno State
The City of Fresno, California State University Fresno, and Kashian Enterprises are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached on the Campus Pointe development, averting pending litigation. Fresno City Manager Andy Souza commented, “This agreement is in keeping with our principals to ensure that development pays its fair share for their impacts to the City while recognizing the unique and vital role that Fresno State plays in our community. 09/10/07  Road Closure Due To Fifth Court Of Appeals Dedication Ceremony
N Street will be closed between Ventura and Santa Clara beginning at 6:00pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 in preparation for the Fifth Court of Appeals event on Thursday, September 13, 2007. The road closure will last through the conclusion of the event. A number of dignitaries from throughout the state are expected to attend that will include their security detail. >more

09/07/07  Moonlight Wildfire Impacting Valley Air Quality
The Fresno City Fire Department is urging residents to take extra precautions during the San Joaquin Valley’s current air quality alert. The alert called due to smoke impacts from the Moonlight wildfire in Plumas County is affecting Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, and Kern counties. The Fresno Fire Department asks residents to be aware they may detect a heavy odor of smoke; this may be due to smoke from the Moonlight wildfire. >more

08/31/07  Mayor Autry Proclaims David Carr Day
Deputy Mayor, Jeff Eben, together with dignitaries from California State University, Fresno will extend the wishes of Mayor Autry to recognize the athletic accomplishments of Central Valley football quarterback, David Carr by proclaiming Saturday, September 1, 2007 as David Carr Day. David Carr is a product of the Central Valley, growing up in Bakersfield and playing football at Stockdale High School where he earned all-league honors and honorable mention all-area honors while setting 16 school records. David began his career at Fresno State in 1997 and became a starter for the team during his senior season in 2001. >more
