The City of Fresno is pleased to announce a new innovative program that will promote the use of solar energy systems in Fresno. The Solar Energy System Rebate and Loan Program will provide a much needed incentive to jump start the private use of solar panels and solar water heaters for qualified Fresno families. The program is not only intended to reduce electricity costs to homeowners, but will also encourage the use of renewable energy sources and reduce Fresno’s reliance on non-renewable fossil fuels that harm our air quality. >more

12/07/07  City Asks Public To Help Prevent Copper Wire Theft
The City of Fresno Public Works and Police Departments ask residents to report suspected theft of copper wire. Like many agencies throughout the country, the City of Fresno Public Works Street Maintenance Division has spent a considerable amount of public resources to combat copper wire theft from street light poles. Copper wire theft poses a safety hazard as neighborhoods and thoroughfares are left in the dark. >more

Mayor Alan Autry hosts The 2nd Annual City of Fresno Metropolitan Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. 11/27/07  City Of Fresno Announces Winter Watering Schedule
The winter watering schedule will be in effect for all City of Fresno water customers as of December 1. The City of Fresno Department of Public Utilities, Water Division, requires all customers to conduct outside watering on the following times and days: ODD Numbered Addresses: (addresses that end in 1,3,5,7,9)Saturdays ONLY EVEN Numbered Addresses:(addresses that end in 0,2,4,6,8)Sundays ONLY WATERING TIMES: ANYTIME DURING APPROVED WATER DAY The winter watering schedule begins each year December 1 and runs through March 1 to avoid unnecessary over watering. As the weather cools and fog comes, there is little or no need for watering. >more

With the start of the busy holiday season, parking is at a premium. Starting this Friday, the City of Fresno Parking Services Division will increase their enforcement efforts throughout the holiday season. In response to the Fresno City Council’s failure to act today regarding the establishment of a Municipal Water District, Mayor Alan Autry offers the following statement: "I am extremely disappointed in the Council’s decision to not move forward with the Municipal Water District. When council majority enthusiastically raises rates, then denies the people of Fresno the opportunity to lower them, it is truly a sad day for us all.This decision is a blow to the pocketbooks of all Fresnan’s and is disastrous to our most needy. >more

10/24/07  Parking Advisory for Friday Night Fresno State Football Game
The Fresno State football team will be playing Boise State on Friday, October 26 at 6 PM at Bulldog Stadium with what is expected to be a sell out crowd. The City of Fresno Parking Services Division reminds fans attending the game to utilize the lots provided around the stadium, and not to park in the residential areas around the stadium. Parking will be strictly enforced in the residential areas surrounding Bulldog Stadium Friday night. >more

10/19/07  Parking Summit Prompts Immediate Action
Thursday evening, October 18, 2007, Mayor Autry and City staff met with a dozen business and property owners to hear their concerns regarding downtown parking. The owner of the Shephard’s Inn restaurant was pleased to find that the parking meters had already been changed from 2 to 4 hour parking as he stepped out to move an employee car from an expired meter on Santa Fe Street next to the restaurant. The metered parking time was changed first thing this morning as promised during last nights Parking Town Hall meeting. >more
