Woodward Park Will Close One Week For Roadwork
08/06/2007

Woodard Regional Park in the City of Fresno will undergo road construction and be closed to all vehicle traffic beginning Monday, August 20, 2007. The park roadway will re-open Saturday, August 25, 2007.

Patrons on foot will still have access to the Lewis Eaton Trail that travels through the Southern end of the park. All features that are located on the interior of the park’s circular roadway, including the Rotary Amphitheater and several picnic shelters, will be inaccessible during the construction.

WHEN: Monday through Friday, August 20 – 24th

WHERE: Woodward Park, 7775, N. Friant

WHY:
The City of Fresno Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) will be implementing a new traffic plan for Woodward Park. The park roadway will be completely re-surfaced and re-striped, and will introduce two-way traffic when the project is complete.

Additionally, the park will feature a permanent new entrance & toll booth, at Friant & Fort Washington, which was previously only opened for major park events. The Audubon entrance will gain a second toll booth to facilitate the two-way traffic. This revised traffic pattern will accommodate patrons traveling to new park features, including a Bike Complex that is under construction in the Northeast part of the park, as well as to the Rotary Amphitheater which will see an increase in special events when improvements to it are complete.
