Shuttlebugz Bike Taxis Now Operating In Downtown Fresno
With the Valley coming up on the worst season for air quality, the City of Fresno, Department of Transportation/Fresno Area Express (FAX) has teamed with Shuttlebugz to provide easy and fun transportation in the Downtown Area. The interim pilot program began on Monday, May 14, 2007, in the downtown triangle bordered by Freeways 99, 180, and 41.
Shuttlebugz are bicycle taxis that can shuttle people (two to three per unit) around the downtown area. The Shuttlebugz program has been successful both in River Park and in providing hassle-free services during Grizzlies games.
In addition to door to door service for passengers, Shuttlebugz is available to pick-up and deliver your lunch! Downtown employees can order and pay for their food by phone from one of the downtown eateries and contact Shuttlebugz to deliver! No need to look for parking, no worries about contributing to poor air quality, and all this for the cost of a good tip.
Shuttlebugz service is free, however tips are encouraged to assist and support the efforts of the operators. If a Shuttlebugz taxi is not occupied, you can hail the driver by waving your hand, or you can call and schedule a ride.
The pilot program will run from May 14 through November 5, 2007, and will operate Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information or to schedule a ride, call Shuttlebugz at 559-433-7373.
