Woodward Park Road Conversion Update

The City of Fresno Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) would like to advise the public of a new time-line for the road conversion project at Woodward Park:

Due to unforeseen mechanical equipment failure, the Woodward Park one-way to two-way conversion will not be completed for the original intended opening of Saturday August 25th. However, the City of Fresno would like to have residents enjoy the park over the weekend so Woodward will re-open Saturday and Sunday for one last weekend with one-way vehicle traffic. The park will then be closed again on Monday 8/27 to allow crews to complete the striping needed to officially convert the park to two-way traffic. The park will re-open Tuesday 8/28 with two-way traffic, a new entrance at Fort Washington & Friant and a second toll booth at the Audubon entrance.

Additionally, PRCS would like to notify Woodward Park patrons that the children’s play areas inside the park are under construction and will be closed until September 7, 2007. This closure is allowing PRCS to create permanent shade structures for these play areas. We appreciate the patience of park patrons as we complete these projects.
