Community Safety Is Number One Concern For Mobile Vendors
01/19/2007

The month of February typically brings an increase in mobile vendors throughout the City. Beginning the week of January 31, 2007, the City Code Enforcement Division will increase their efforts to verify the business legitimacy and safety of the products and placement of mobile vendors.

The increase in mobile vendors brings an increase in potential health and safety hazards to the community. The location of illegal vendors often creates a hazard for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Additionally, the products sold by illegal vendors are not licensed, therefore posing an increased health and safety risk to patrons. Finally, illegal vendors reduce the customer base from legitimate, licensed businesses operating in Fresno.

The City of Fresno Code Enforcement Division will be working extended hours and weekends beginning January 31, 2007 ending February 14, 2007. Citations will be issued to all vendors found in violation of the Fresno Municipal Code Mobile Vendor Ordinance.

For additional information regarding the Mobile Vendor Ordinance, contact Code Enforcement at 621-8400.
