Mayor Of Livingston To Honor City Of Fresno
In a gesture of ‘thanks’, Livingston’s Mayor, Gurpal Samra, will recognize Mayor Autry and the City of Fresno Graffiti Team for their interagency collaboration efforts on graffiti abatement at a press conference to be held Friday, April 27, 2007 at 11:00 am on the front sidewalk outside of City Hall.
In an effort to handle the growing graffiti problem in the City of Livingston, an interest in the efforts at the City of Fresno led Livingston’s Mayor Samra to call on Mayor Autry and the City of Fresno for assistance to help gain control of Livingston’s ever growing graffiti problem. The call led to the collaboration of the two cities that ultimately assisted the City of Livingston’s development of their first graffiti abatement unit.
Livingston’s Mayor Samra stated, “A new milestone has been achieved in Livingston due to Mayor Autry’s positive approach with smaller, less fortunate communities within the Central Valley. Mayor Autry has been a positive influence for our community as we sought solutions for our graffiti problem.”
Modeled after Fresno’s graffiti abatement team, Livingston has put in place the policies, procedures and staff needed to successfully remove city graffiti as well as an investment of $80,000 for a brand new graffiti removal unit just like Fresno’s.
The press conference is at the request of Livingston’s Mayor Samra so that he can publicly thank Mayor Autry and the City Graffiti Team for sharing their input, support and assistance.
