Granville Model Home Features Universal Design

City of Fresno Housing and Community Development Division together with Granville Homes, the Center for Independent Living and Housing Partnership for the Disabled announce the Grand Opening of “Alisio” the first model home by Granville to incorporate features of Universal Design.

A ribbon cutting ceremony, featuring Fresno’s Deputy Mayor Jeff Eben, will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Granville Homes located at 5906 E. Eugina in Fresno (cross streets are Church and Fowler).

Universal Design is home construction for all phases of life. Universal Design provides greater accessibility through increased spaciousness and maneuverability as well as a variety of additional design features that promote independent living for everyone.

“We are very pleased and excited that Granville Homes is leading the industry by considering Universal Design features for their homes. We are enthusiastic that disabled veterans, the elderly, young families and the population in general will warmly embrace this type of housing,” stated Michael Sigala, Housing and Community Development Manager for the City of Fresno.
