FAX Offers Cyclists Free Rides On Bike To Work Day
05/16/2007

City of Fresno, Department of Transportation/Fresno Area Express (FAX) is partnering with the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition in encouraging people to try bicycle commuting. On Thursday, May 17, 2007, FAX will offer cyclists free bus fares, throughout the day, on a space-available basis.

Bicycling to work is healthy, clean, and fun. Bicycle commuting can help keep a person in shape, is one of the least expensive ways of commuting to work, eliminates parking worries, does not pollute the air, and is a great way to relieve stress.

FAX is pleased to partner with the Bicycle Coalition to encourage alternatives other than the automobile. “As gas prices push the $3.50 per gallon mark, we should all be looking at new, less polluting ways to get to work. Try your bicycle and the bus. It’s fun and free on May 17, 2007,” said Ken Hamm, Director of Transportation.

Join cyclists and community leaders for a public bicycle ride from Manchester Center to Kern Street Café. Gather near the FAX Manchester Transit Center at 8 a.m. for the 8:30 a.m. ride.

For more information, the public may call 621-RIDE.
