City Of Fresno Cooling Centers Will Be Open Today Through Saturday
08/29/2007

With temperatures expected to be extremely hot and unhealthy over the next few days, the City of Fresno would like to encourage residents to take advantage of one of 11 cooling center locations open today through Saturday.

The Centers will be open from Noon until 10pm each day. In addition, Fresno Area Express (FAX) will provide transportation to the closest center for residents via the scheduled bus routes. Staff and security will be at each location during operating hours and will do what they can to accommodate the public. No food service is available but drinking water will be provided. With the exception of service animals, no pets are allowed at the centers. The SPCA recommends that animals be well fed and left with plenty of water and shade during extreme heat. We ask that residents check in on family and neighbors who may be especially vulnerable to excessive heat and keep children indoors during after-school hours.

For more information on the City’s Cooling Center operations, residents can visit the City website at www.fresno.gov or call (559) 621-CITY (2489).
