Fresno Community Cooling Centers Will Be Open All Weekend

With the temperature expected to exceed 105 degrees on each of the next three days, the Cooling Centers will be open tonight, Saturday and Sunday.

A reminder - the Centers will be open until 10:00 pm. In addition, Fresno Area Express will provide transportation to the closest center for residents via the scheduled bus routes, with weekend service schedules applicable. Taxi service is available through the One Call Center for those unable to use scheduled FAX service.

Staff and security will be at each location during operating hours and will do what they can to accommodate the public. We ask that residents check in on family and neighbors who may be especially vulnerable to the excessive heat.

Water, etc: The City of Fresno will provide drinking water at the Cooling Centers; however, no food services are available. City Stewards and PRCS staff will deliver bottled water to our community’s homeless and indigent.

Pets: No pets are allowed at the centers. The SPCA recommends that animals should be well fed and left with plenty of water and shade in order to tolerate the heat. Service animals are, of course accommodated at the Cooling Centers.

For more information on the City’s Cooling Center operations, visit the city’s website at or call (559) 621-CITY (2489).
