New Public Affairs Officer Name
FRESNO , CA (January 12, 2006) – Fresno City Manager Andy Souza is pleased to announce the appointment of Rhonda Jorn as Public Affairs Officer for the City of Fresno. Ms. Jorn, a Valley native, will begin Tuesday, January 17, 2006. “Rhonda has the knowledge, experience, and passion to communicate the City’s culture of excellence,” commented Souza. “Her varied background with social services, public agencies, creative marketing, and broadcast media will serve Rhonda well while she keeps the public apprised of daily activities within the City and proactively presents Fresno’s identity to the region, state, nation and beyond.”
The Public Affairs Office acts as liaison between the City and the media, the public and other public and private communication agencies. The PAO issues press and community releases, and proactively organizes and promotes community information and events inside and outside the region.
Most recently, Jorn worked as Community Relations Director for the Poverello House and with Exceptional Parents Unlimited. Jorn has also worked as Director and Producer of Special Projects at local television KFSN 30 and at KSEE 24 writing, producing, and directing special projects for community and commercial clientele in addition to creating and promoting a variety of station sponsored campaigns. With a background in community service, Jorn is a member of the Fresno Women’s Network, Fresno Communications Network, and was a past member of the Board of Directors at Poverello House.
Jorn graduated from California State University Fresno with a BA in Telecommunications and a minor degree in Marketing Communications. She is a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Fresno Class XVI.
