Mayor Autry Supports Governors Plan To Provide Healthcare For All Children
06/16/2006

(FRESNO , CA June 16, 2006) – City of Fresno, Mayor Alan Autry, is calling on all of the legislature; Republican, Democrat, and Independent to support the Governor’s position on providing healthcare for all children.

At a news conference Thursday, Governor Schwarzenegger proposed $22 million of the States’ budget be earmarked for county health-insurance programs to cover all children, including those who are undocumented.

Supportive of the Governors proposal, Mayor Autry stated, “To support secure borders and the support of healthcare for all children are not two opposing positions. While we’re reforming this institutionalized dysfunction, masquerading as immigration law, we must make sure innocent children aren’t hurt in the process. We must all remember that the decision to cross the border illegally was not a child’s choice, they should not be punished for it”.
