Mayor Autry And Valley Leaders To ShareRegional Water Concerns With Legislators

(FRESNO , CA April 26, 2006) – On Wednesday afternoon, April 26, 2006, Mayor Alan Autry, elected officials from throughout the Valley, and Valley water officials, will travel to Sacramento to meet with State Senators, Assembly Members and members of Governor Schwarzenegger’s cabinet to stress the importance of surface water storage for our growing region.

Recent Infrastructure Bond measure negotiations did not include funding for the Temperance Flat Surface Water Storage project for the region. Mayor Autry stated, “The Valley’s water needs must not be overlooked in this bond package. This is not just about agriculture--this is about the economy of the Valley. We can either be a benefit to the State’s economy or the biggest drain on the State’s economy.”

Meetings are planned and have been arranged with the following officials:

  • Senator Ackerman and Assembly Member Plescia

  • Senator Hollingsworth
  • Senator Dutton
  • Members of Governor Schwarzenegger’s administration
