FRESNO , CA February 21, 2006) – The City of Fresno’s Economic Development Department, in collaboration with approximately 70 members of the Economic Development Alliance, launched FresnoStartUp.com, an online site that assists local entrepreneurs who want to start a business.
With the purchase and development of the URL FresnoStartUp.com, the City provides multi-agency access to start up information, making it a just a “click” away for the inquiring entrepreneur. The website provides easy-access links to Alliance members, the State, and Federal agencies that individually provide start up information to new businesses.
Mayor Alan Autry commented that “The new start up program is going to be a major factor in job creation. This project takes giant leaps forward by assisting and simplifying the new business start up process. I commend City Economic Development Director, Scott Johnson and his staff for the quality of this new start up site.”
Dr. Timothy Stearns, Fresno States’ Director of the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship declared it a “bold step in establishing a communitywide collaboration to benefit the area’s start up businesses.
For entrepreneurs who do not have online access, the City also developed brochures in English and Spanish, while also printing a 14-page booklet with the information available online. The brochures and booklet are available at the City’s Business Assistance Hot Spot on the third floor of City Hall, Room 3076, or at any of the other Alliance member locations.
