City of Fresno Moves To Complete Herndon Avenue Project

(FRESNO , CA July 10, 2006) - Based upon direction from the City Council, the City of Fresno’s City Attorney Office and Public Works Department continue to work towards the completion of improvements on Herndon Avenue. These activities are complicated by requirements of the agreement with the former contractor, as well as Federal and State requirements which, if not followed, will jeopardize the 1.7 million dollars needed to complete the project.

City Manager, Andy Souza stated, “I share the frustration of the community and understand the need to get this project completed. While we have a responsibility to work within the legal constraints, we will continue to pursue all available options to get this project completed as quickly as possible.”

Beginning next week, the City of Fresno Public Works Department will post the latest status of the project on its website which will include a timeline for completion. Additionally, any questions or concerns regarding the project should be forwarded to the City Manager’s Office at (559) 621-7770 or Public Works Department at (559) 621-8663.
