City Of Fresno Budget Hearing Focuses On City Planning, Personnel And Parks, Recreation And Community Services

(FRESNO , CA June 12, 2006) – Fresno’s City Council takes their budget hearings back to City Hall tonight beginning at 6pm in Council Chambers where presentations will focus on the proposed budgets for the City Planning, Parks, Recreation and Community Services, and Personnel departments for fiscal year 2006-2007.

City Planning Director, Nick Yovino, will continue to present proposed initiatives included in the Planning budget that are sure to improve affordable housing and economic development activities for the downtown area.

Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director, Randall Cooper, will present the department’s budget which includes on-going initiatives that have proven to empower City youth, save taxpayers money, and improve the City’s General Fund. These initiatives include the Mayor’s Jobs Initiative, Academic Game Plan, City Steward Program and the Arts, Parks, Entertainment and Sports surcharge.

Parks Director Randy Cooper stated, “I’m excited to present my department’s budget to the Council tonight. We are continuing to provide innovative resources that improve the lives of all of our citizens who use the parks”.
