FRESNO , CA ( July 13, 2005) – Today Deputy Mayor Roger Montero accepted the American Lung Association’s 2005 Good Government Award on behalf of Mayor Alan Autry. Mayor Autry is the first individual in the Valley to receive this award. 06/30/05  Solid Waste Collection Schedule (Fourth of July Holiday)
RESIDENTIAL COLLECTION The City of Fresno Solid Waste Division will provide regular residential waste collection service on Monday, July 4, 2005. Our once-a-week collection of trash, recyclables and green waste will remain on its original service schedule, uninterrupted by the Holiday. FRESNO, CA (June 20, 2005) The City of Fresno Department of Public Utilities, Water Division announces recommended lawn watering times. All of City of Fresno water customers are required to follow the Summer Watering Schedule in order to conserve water during peak usage levels. Watering Times: 7PM to 6AM and 8AM to 11AM Sunday, Wednesday, FridayEVEN Numbered Addresses(addresses that end in 0,2,4,6,8)Saturday,Tuesday,ThursdayODD Numbered Addresses: (addresses that end in 1,3,5,7,9)NO Watering on Mondays But, how long should you water your lawn to ensure it is receiving adequate water during the hottest part of the summer? 06/02/05  Parks & Recreation Will Serve Free Sack Lunches To Children At 15 Locations Daily
FRESNO, CA (June 2, 2005) On Monday June 6, 2005, the City of Fresno Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) will begin a partnership with the Economic Opportunities Commission (EOC) to distribute FREE sack lunches to children throughout Fresno. Operating as an extension of EOC, PRCS will facilitate distribution of lunches at 15 sites throughout the city to allow out of school children a source for good daily nutrition. Because of EOC, FUSD, PRCS and other Summer Lunch sponsors, the program will operate on a much larger scale, topping 75 distribution sites this summer in both the city and county. >more

05/12/05  County And City Team Up To Battle Graffiti
FRESNO, CA (May 12, 2005) - On May 16, 2005 at 10am the County and the City of Fresno will kick off a program that will allow the City to paint over graffiti in county islands within the city limits. The program will address spray painted areas such as road signs, fences, apartment complexes, telephone poles, businesses and homes in the Calwa, Mayfair, Sunnyside and Fig Garden areas. The Board of Supervisors feel the action signals their intent to become more cognizant of quality of life issues for all the citizens of Fresno County, including those who live within the boundaries of the City of Fresno. >more
