Mayor Autry Announces Resignation Of City Manager Dan Hobbs

FRESNO,CA (February 18, 2005) - Mayor Autry announced today that he has accepted City Manager Dan Hobbs’ letter of resignation effective at 5:00 p.m. today.

The Mayor stated, "Dan and I met and mutually agreed that the timing was good to make a change in City Managerial leadership. I personally appreciate Dan’s many contributions to the City and we have all benefited from his hard work, professionalism and loyalty to our vision."

Hobbs deserves much credit for bringing in a highly talented pool of Department Heads who have been instrumental in historical accomplishments for the City. Most notably, amidst the worst fiscal crisis in State history, the City maintains a strong emergency reserve fund and has had no layoffs of city employees. In addition, Hobbs implemented many recommendations for improving efficiencies in City Government as noted by the Macias Group in 2001 and the "Meeting the Challenge" report issued in 2003.

Mayor Autry also stated, "From his first day, Dan embraced our vision and goals and maintained the highest level of ethics and integrity. I wish Dan all the best in his future endeavors."
