Parks & Recreation Will Serve Free Sack Lunches To Children At 15 Locations Daily
06/02/2005
FRESNO, CA (June 2, 2005) On Monday June 6, 2005, the City of Fresno Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) will begin a partnership with the Economic Opportunities Commission (EOC) to distribute FREE sack lunches to children throughout Fresno. Operating as an extension of EOC, PRCS will facilitate distribution of lunches at 15 sites throughout the city to allow out of school children a source for good daily nutrition. Because of EOC, FUSD, PRCS and other Summer Lunch sponsors, the program will operate on a much larger scale, topping 75 distribution sites this summer in both the city and county.
All youth, 0-18, can get a healthy meal Monday thru Friday during the summer at one of the many locations in Fresno County. There is no 'qualifying.' Kids just need to show up. All of the participating sponsors are working hard to ensure that kids stay healthy and are ready to learn when school starts in the fall.
