Future ‘Field Of Dreams’ To Begin Construction This Week

FRESNO, CA (May 3, 2005) - The City of Fresno Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) is pleased to announce that renovation of Nielsen park in Southwest Fresno will begin this week. The park, located at 1730 S. Fruit, will be closed for construction through September 2005.

Although the project falls during the height of park usage, it is the most effective time period for the department to expedite renovations and landscaping operations. The project was recently awarded to the American Paving Company by City Council and includes complete renovation of the two existing fields, resurfacing and re-striping of the park's basketball courts and construction of a new restroom and concession area.

PRCS understands the inconvenience this may cause local residents and is making every effort to accommodate the community by re-locating summer activities to numerous other facilities in the Southwest region. The public is encouraged to direct park related concerns to the PRCS Admin office at 621-2900 and construction concerns to American Paving at 268-9886.
