09/14/04 Welcome The Chaffee Zoo’s Newest Residents

FRESNO, CA (September 14 , 2004) One of the most popular exhibits at the Chaffee Zoological Gardens, the sea lion exhibit, has received some major renovations over the past few months, in addition to some lovable new residents. On February 20, 2004, the Chaffee Zoo acquired a young female sea lion pup, named Pismo, from the Fort MacArthur Marine Mammal Care Center in San Pedro, California. At five-months-old, Pismo was found stranded in Oxnard, California with trauma of unknown origin to her eyes. >more

FRESNO, CA (August 5 , 2004) The National Safe Place Program has selected City of Fresno/Fresno Area Express (FAX) as the recipient of their “Outstanding Site Involvement” award. The City will formally receive this honor in Louisville , Kentucky on September 30, 2004 . 07/28/04 Chaffee Zoo Reopens Remodeled Rainforest Bridge

FRESNO, CA (July 28, 2004) The Chaffee Zoological Gardens is proud to announce the grand reopening of its newly remodeled Rainforest Bridge . Angel Arellano will kick off the grand reopening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:00AM on Friday, July 30, 2004. These babies, born on November 25, 2003 , will be available for viewing by the general public beginning July 17, 2004 , in the Sunda Forest exhibit.
