“Water Safety And Survival”
WHAT: “WATER SAFETY AND SURVIVAL”
WHEN: FRIDAY, JUNE 18, 2004
TIME: 12:00 P.M.
WHERE: MCKINLEY CANAL (IN FRONT OF THE FRESNO AIR NATIONAL GUARD ON MCKINLEY WEST OF CLOVIS AVE )
The Fresno City Fire Department will be delivering a “WATER SAFETY & SURVIVAL” presentation on Friday, June 18 th , 2004 . The presentation is geared toward taking a pro-active approach toward water safety.
As we all know, the hot summer days are here, and we need to inform the public of the dangers that surround both static and dynamic bodies of water. The water may look calm and even inviting, but every year we experience injuries or deaths from the result of falling or playing around bodies of water.
We are including information/techniques on what to do if you find yourself in the water. Demonstrations will include self-survival techniques and demonstrate the procedures and skills of the Fresno City Fire Technical Rescue Team as they perform live rescues in the water.
We invite you to be part in this important safety message by volunteering to be one of the “Victim's” (or your designee) we rescue. You will be able to get a “VICTIMS” perspective and relate to the importance of being safe both in and around water. Of course, we will provide all the proper protective clothing to keep you safe. We ask that your team meet us before 12:00 p.m. to outfit you with your safety gear and to attend the pre-entry safety briefing.
Fresno City Fire Department invites all local media to the news conference and presentation on Friday, June 18 th , 2004 at 12:00 p.m. to be held at the above location.
