Traffic Signal Project To Close Lanes On Tulare Street
05/25/2004

FRESNO, CA (May 25, 2004) The City of Fresno Public Works Department currently has a project under construction to install railroad preemption at the intersection of “R” and Tulare Street . The railroad tracks are located approximately 350 feet from the intersection. When completed, the traffic signal will be able to switch to an all red flashing light operation during train crossings. This will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on “R” Street.

To accomplish this, a conduit and hard wire connection has to be installed between the City traffic signal controller and railroad control box. This will allow train crossing warning signals to be received by the City's traffic signal controller so that it can preempt normal operations.

Traffic lane closures are proposed during installation of the conduit across Tulare Street . Lane closures will occur intermittently between 9 am and 4 pm beginning Wednesday 5/26/04 and running through Tuesday 6/1/04 .

No closures are proposed during the upcoming 3-day holiday weekend.
