Streetscape Project To Close Cedar Avenue To Through Traffic At Shields Avenue
FRESNO, CA (May 20, 2004) Starting Monday, May 24, 2004 , crews will begin construction on the Cedar-Shields Streetscape Project. This is a $700,000 beautification project funded by the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Fresno . It includes decorative intersection paving at Cedar and Shields, as well as landscaping improvements along Cedar Avenue between Dayton and Princeton , and landscaping improvements along Shields Avenue between Cedar and Freeway 168.
In order to install the decorative intersection paving at Cedar and Shields, Cedar Avenue will be closed to through traffic at the intersection of Shields Avenue starting Monday, May 24, 2004 . Cedar Avenue will be closed to through traffic until the vast majority of construction is completed. Motorists are therefore encouraged to use alternate north-south routes. Shields Avenue will remain open to through traffic but will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction. Detour signage, arrow boards and message signs will be in place to detour Cedar Avenue traffic approaching the intersection at Shields Avenue . Access to local businesses will be provided throughout the construction phase.
