The City of Fresno , Code Enforcement Division, in a cooperative effort with the State, will be removing over 2,000 waste tires located at the Light Line Mission ( 1104 West North Avenue .) The tires are a health hazard and a public nuisance. The Mission had collected the tires from city streets and vacant lots to build a retaining wall around a ponding basin and to use as planters. Many more tires were illegally dumped on their property until a fence was put up. The tires are being removed through a grant provided by the California State Integrated Waste Management Board.
