Communications Key For New Public Affairs Officer
FRESNO, CA (August 5 , 2004) City Manager Dan Hobbs is pleased to announce that Ken Shockley has been chosen as Public Affairs Officer. He will begin Monday, August 9 th. “Ken was picked from a number of excellent candidates,” commented Hobbs . “His background in local news production and keen understanding of the value for clear and detailed communications was key in his selection for this critical position.”
As spokesperson for the City of Fresno , Shockley will be responsible for coordinating content of the City of Fresno ’s website, City issued press and community releases, and proactively organizing and promoting community information and events inside and outside the region.
“I am pleased to join the City of Fresno at a time of terrific opportunity of growth and renewal,” stated Shockley.
Most recently, Shockley was employed as news producer at the ABC 30/KFSN, and prior to that held the same position at the CBS 47/KGPE, where he wrote and edited stories for Valley newscasts. Though born in southern California , Shockley considers himself a native of the Valley having moved to Fresno as a young child. Shockley has a background of community service; serving as a civil engineer with the US Army, an emergency service dispatcher with the Fresno Police Department, and a communications officer with the Army National Guard. He graduated from the University of Utah , Salt Lake City with a bachelor degree in speech communications.
