City Expands Clean Air Express Vanpool Program
FRESNO, CA (July 27, 2004) As a result of increasing interest and participation in the City’s Clean Air Express Vanpool, Fresno Area Express will expand the program. Over the next few months, FAX will increase the Vanpool fleet from 7 to 12. Each van can carry 12 passengers per vehicle.
Funding for this program has been provided to FAX from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District and Valley Clean Air Now. The Clean Air Express Vanpool is an effort to reduce traffic and pollution in the Downtown area.
The City of Fresno awarded a contract to Enterprise Rideshare effective July 1, 2004 to provide these additional vans for the Clean Air Express Vanpool. This program is currently being administered by the Council of Fresno County Governments and Fresno Area Express.
The Clean Air Express Vanpool program has been underway since January 2004. It is part of the City’s effort to support Operation Clean Air. Since it began, the program has reduced emissions of Nox by .35 tons and .07 tons of PM 10.
For more information on how to participate in the program, you can call Brenda Launcher at 233-4148.
